###
Catherine '28 is a freshman from the Bay Area interested in science communication. She enjoys community service and plans to pursue a career in the public health and medical fields.
My name is Esther Ceballo Ortiz '26, and I am a junior studying Human Biology. My career goals are to earn a Master of Public Health and work in Global Health. I am passionate about child and maternal health, as well as immigrant and refugee healthcare globally. I was born and raised in the Dominican Republic but currently reside in Georgia when I'm not at Stanford. My passion for global public health was sparked while growing up in the DR, where I saw how the lack of basic human rights claimed the lives of hundreds around me. In my free time, I love traveling, listening to Latin music, and talking about baby names.
Fuga '28 is a freshman at Stanford majoring in Symbolic Systems and minoring in anthropology. He is interested in studying the underlying cultural factors behind global health issues, with a particular passion for mental healthcare. Outside of class, he is working on neuroscience research at the Huguenard Lab while doing Kendo on the club team. In his free time, he loves listening to music and walking his dog.
Maia Pak '28 is a freshman from Los Angeles studying Communication, with a focus in Journalism. She is interested in attending law school and loves matcha, going to the beach and reading (particularly memoirs by female artists).
Sofia Pesantez (’24/'25) is a Coterm student completing her Master's degree in Epidemiology and Clinical Research. In undergrad, her major was Human Biology with a concentration on Global Public Health and Human Performance. She is from Hewlett, New York, and her interest in global health and immigrant health advocacy stems from her background, having immigrant parents from Colombia and Ecuador. She volunteers at Cardinal Free Clinics as a Spanish Interpreter, and has engaged in multiple abroad experiences focused on global public health, such as the BOSP Community Health in Oaxaca trip, as well studying abroad in Cape Town, South Africa to do public health work with Doctors without Borders focusing on Vulnerable Populations. She hopes to continue immersing herself in learning experiences that can enrich her knowledge of global public health, so that when she becomes a doctor herself, she can provide the most culturally competent care possible for her patients.
