Abstract

Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a prevalent behavioral disorder among U.S. children, affecting 6.1 million individuals aged 2-17. ADHD impacts academic performance and behavior, with students often facing learning disabilities, reduced motivation, and lower achievement. Diagnosis and treatment barriers, particularly for marginalized groups, exacerbate these challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic intensified ADHD symptoms, disrupted therapies, and widened educational gaps. While federal relief funds addressed pandemic learning losses, comprehensive policies for ADHD students remain inadequate. This brief recommends professional teacher training, streamlined medication access, and increased behavioral therapist recruitment to ensure equitable support and mitigate pandemic-driven setbacks for students with ADHD.
