Ethical Implications of Urban Growth Boundaries: Is Curbing Urban Sprawl Wrong?
Keywords:
urban growth boundary, urban sprawl, new urbanism,Abstract
This article systematically explores the policy issue of Urban Growth Boundaries  (UGBs) by critically analyzing arguments for and against the policy. It ultimately concludes that those in favor of the boundaries are ultimately more persuasive because they are based in basic human needs rather than largely rhetorical arguments. The article also points out that UGBs are not alone sufficient to reform unsustainable development patterns.
